Villa Maddalena - a harmonious blend of tradition and luxury!
Villa Maddalena is a sea-facing, private villa, standing next-door to us, that we recently acquired and renovated, with the intention of preserving its authentic Sicilian identity while creating a spacious and luxurious environment for our guests, providing the ideal escape-venue for families and friends who want to share a truly beautiful, Sicilian setting, with the all the benefit of Villa Belvedere’s, inviting amenities, at just a few steps away, that include the pretty, hotel swimming pool, with its tiny island in the centre, where a tall palm tree grows, near to our open-air, lunch-time, restaurant (both open from May to October).
Villa Maddalena is structured following the slope of the land down in the direction of the coastline, on three ample, separate floors, topped by a solarium on road level, all connected by an inner staircase. The villa overlooks the sea, therefore, it has broad, unimpeded sea views and it has a beautiful private garden, an ideal setting for a peaceful drink, or to enjoy a snack, or to relax with a good book to read.
On all floors, the clear, Mediterranean light enters the rooms all day long, through the broad, “French” windows, so that the surrounding gardens, the sea and the sky, appear to be part of the décor of the rooms.
A courtyard with trees gives access to the floor composed of two adjacent suites, a more spacious one, with access to a beautiful private terrace where comfortable sofa-chairs and a table offer outstanding views across the sea, and a smaller but equally welcoming suite, with a small terrace, and its own table and chairs, that is very suitable for two guests.
In Villa Maddalena, as in all our accommodation, there is daily maid-service, heating and A/C,and Wi-Fi, as well as flat, wide-screen TVs, all included in the cost. The Villa Is now composed of four, different-sized suites, situated on three, descending levels.
The Grande Suite, on the ‘top’ floor, parallel with the road. is the largest, with a spacious, separate entrance hall, where there is a compact fridge-bar, some mirrors, several cupboards, and storage space for outdoor clothes and luggage.
The very beautiful main bedroom (17m²) of the suite, has French windows, leading onto a narrow, Juliet-style balcony that overlooks the expanse of the sea. There is a spacious, welcoming, lounge, (22m²) with a large, divan-bed, that becomes a double bed, when required, and there are also comfortable armchairs, etc. There are two, well-appointed, bathrooms, one with a bathtub and hand-held shower, and one with a walk-in shower. The kitchen area is now super-modern, spacious, and fitted with everything necessary, including tea and coffee-making facilities, with supplies, including Nespresso, renewed daily, as in all our accommodation.
The entrance to the Grande Suite is from a large inner courtyard, with tall, Mediterranean Coco Palms where there are comfortable chairs and a small table. Some steps lead up to the spacious solarium, above, that offers spectacular views over the sea, away to the far horizon.
Junior Suites. Apart from the Grande Suite, there are also three Junior Suites. The smallest one, is next door to the Grande Suite, also accessed from the garden-courtyard. It is ideal for one or two people as it has a very attractive bedroom with either a king size double bed, or two regular twin beds, (whichever is preferred). There is a well appointed shower-bathroom, a functional kitchen and there are truly beautiful sea views. to be enjoyed.
The other two Junior suites are each one floor lower, because as mentioned, the levels of the villa follow the downward slope of the land. The higher one has a comfortable double, or two twin beds and also a divan where a third person can sleep if required, and a well-appointed shower-bathroom, but it has no kitchen. It does however, have spacious terraces overlooking the sea.
The comfortable lower suite is suitable for two people, with sleeping arrangements as preferred, and is decorated with a broad, original Sicilian brickwork arch. The suite has its own kitchen and of course, a well-appointed shower-bathroom, and there are also balconies outside the windows, as well as access to a pretty garden, surrounded by flowering bougainvillea and other Mediterranean flowers, shrubs and orange trees, too. Moreover, there are also two sunbeds and an outdoor shower.
All the suites overlook the sea and furthermore, there is a sea-facing, private pathway that runs from the Villa Maddalena garden, as an alternative to walking along the road,
and connects it to its next door neighbour, Villa Belvedere’s garden, where the swimming pool and the open air bar-restaurant are situated, overlooking the expanse of the sea.
Whenever the main Hotel Villa Belvedere is open, in spring, in summer and in autumn, guests who choose the External Accommodation have full access to all hotel amenities, including our generous and varied buffet breakfasts. Taormina’s generally mild winters present no problems, as nowadays, the pretty town centre and the sites to visit, as well as shops, bars, and restaurants, are all open and functioning, all year round.
Villa Maddalena is an oasis of peace, just a few minutes’ stroll from the intriguing, public botanic gardens and the lively, pretty town-centre.
